There are two things that will wreck your nerves in the backcountry: A heavy pack, and insatiable hunger. The good news is that the Olicamp ION Micro Titanium Stove ensures that you’ll never need to sacrifice space or weight to get in a hearty meal on the trail.
On Performance and Design…
You don’t have to be an ultralight backpacker to appreciate the benefits of a lighter pack. At an incredible weight of just 45 grams, this stove won’t hold you back when you’re pushing for the summit. And because it’s the smallest and most compact canister stove in the world, the Olicamp ION Micro Titanium Stove also respects your need for keeping things neat and organized.
Admittedly, with a system so diminutive in build ( 1.25 inches wide and 2 inches tall), we had our reservations about performance. Yet, thanks to an innovative flame spreader design that maximizes heat transfer, this stove offered big performance time and again. And thanks to titanium and stainless steel components, the Ion is up to the task of handling your rough and tumble backcountry excursions.
The only shortcoming is that this stove doesn’t score high ratings on the efficiency scale. As such, you will burn through more fuel than you would with systems like the MSR Windburner. That being said, it’s nearly impossible to beat the compact design which allows you to nest the Ion and fuel canister within the Space Saver Mug. Add in the fact that you can pick up the Ion and Space Saver combo pack for under $60 and you literally feel like you’re cheating the system.
Bottom Line…
The Mighty Mouse of camp stoves, the Ion Micro offers big performance in a compact package. Whether you’re looking to save space or cut back on pack weight, this system deserves to be on your list.
