Freshly fallen powder can get thick and heavy… but the design team at Vasque figures that’s no reason for you to slow down your winter pursuits.
Built for winter ambles, snowshoe rambles and cold-weather commutes, the Snow Junkie UltraDry from Vasque is set to debut in Fall 2012. But before the Snow Junkie hits the shelves, the good people at Vasque were kind enough to provide the Gumption Gear squad with an advance pair to put through the paces and report back with a comprehensive review this fall.
Vasque designed the Snow Junkie with 200 grams of 3M™ Thinsulate™ Ultra for warmth without adding weight. An UltraDry waterproofing membrane is there to keep moisture out while a coated nylon diamond rip stop fabric is there to make sure this winter trail blazer lives up to the Vasque heritage of durability.
Built around the Vasque Perpetuum last the Snow Junkie provides a tremendous all around fit with extra volume in the toe box for comfort and extra warmth on days when the mercury slams the bottom of the thermostat.
With a weight of 18.65 oz per shoe/2lb 5 oz per pair, the Snow Junkie is intended to be light enough to blitz the nearest snow covered trail so you need not miss your run days. If the Snow Junkie’s performance over snow and ice covered trails is as solid as it’s Jet Black/Chili Pepper color scheme… you’ll be thanking Vasque for turning your 2012 winter into a playfield.
With late winter storms still dumping snow across California’s Mountain Ranges, we’ve got plenty of time to test the Snow Junkie in the thickest and heaviest powder in the Sierras. We’ll post a full review in the fall of 2012.
