“There is a love of wild nature in everybody, an ancient mother-love showing itself whether recognized or no, and however covered by cares and duties” – John Muir

Everyone should have the ability to freely explore the great outdoors.  Unfortunately, ensuring that you’re properly prepared for extended time in the outdoors can also prove to be a costly endeavour.  The Teton Sports 4600 Ultralight Internal Frame Backpack gets you out in the backcountry without the pain of sore shoulders, strained back, or over-stressed wallet.

Overview…
The Outfitter 4600 is Teton Sports largest backpack and is designed for those times when you have to take a lot with you and you don’t want to destroy your back doing it. An array of storage options, straps and expandable hood storage ensures you’ve got more than enough storage for the long haul.

On Performance & Design…
When it comes to high capacity packs, we traditionally have two major gripes.  The first is an excessive price point that can make the beauty of outdoor exploration feel more like a pay-to-play experience.  The second is a whirlwind of bells, whistles and straps that can prove to be more confusing than helpful.  In the 4600 Ultralight Backpack, Teton Sports  addressed both of those issues in a package that offers maximum bang for your buck.

The fabric is incredibly durable and relatively light, the features are well thought out, and the frame/suspension is sturdy so even when the pack is fully loaded on a one-, two-, or three-day trip, it offered our team stable support for mile after mile after long dusty mile.

Moreover, we were highly impressed that a pack at a price point of just north of $100 offers the level of customizable fit.  An adjustable torso length allows you to dial in a proper fit while the supportive backboard conforms (albeit it slightly) to your body. The back and hip padding are made of durable open-cell foam with lumbar and molded channels that provide comfort while allowing air to circulate so you don’t overheat as you near your destination.

The Outfitter4600 may not offer the tight streamlined fit of some similar capacity packs, nor does the 5.26 lb weight necessarily justify the “ultralight title.”  Despite those issues, the Outfitter4600 ensures that you don’t sacrifice comfort or versatility.  Features like an integrated map pocket and bright yellow rainfly demonstrate the thoughtful details that make this pack a virtual steal.

Meanwhile eight pockets, two pouches, eyelets, mesh storage, and expandable hood storage the 4600 allowed our team to easily customize the function and volume of the pack without leaving us overwhelmed with useless features.  Of course plenty of gear loops ensure you can strap on your Teton Sports tent for the journey as well.

Bottom Line…
For the money, you’ll be hard pressed to find a full-featured expedition-style pack that carries as comfortably as this full-featured beauty.  The Teton Sports Outfitter4600 Ultralight Backpack is ready to house all of your alpine gear so you can hike, climb, and conquer the rugged terrain that separates you from time in the Wilderness.
