LifeProof™ Review

That shiny new iPhone® in your pocket is sleek, stylish and technologically stunning – but it’s also more delicate than any other Apple smartphone. In fact, according to SquareTrade, the iPhone warranty provider, iPhone 4 displays crack 82 percent more often than iPhone 3GS screens.

Your choice of smartphones shouldn’t be a factor that limits or determines what adventures you can pursue.   To solve this problem, LifeProof™ has designed cases for your iPhone and iPad that provides uncompromised protection and functionality under almost any conditions.

Simply put, LifeProof™ cases are designed to protect against the everyday hazards of life.  Whether that hazard is a white out on the chair lift, an accidental drop while scrambling over granite slabs, a spilled cup of coffee, or simply falling prey to the not-yet-so-dexterous hands of a toddler, LifeProof™ ensures that you can take your iPhone with you wherever you go.

LifeProof™ cases are designed to confidently go into as many environments and situations as you can and to have the same resilience as you have.  They aren’t indestructible, and to their credit, LifeProof™ says as much.  That being said, in our review period the case has lived up to it’s billing as waterproof, shockproof, and dustproof all while continuing to provide the uncompromised functionality you need.

Unlike other waterproof/shockproof iPhone cases, the LifeProof offers a sleek low profile that barely increases the size of your mobile phone. Your iPhone 4 or iPhone 4S is not only protected, it thrives under life’s daily hardships without a chunky wrap-around case that looks more like a tractor tire than phone protector.  And the double AR-coated optical glass lenses still provide unprecedented crystal-clear photo and video quality.

The total package contains the LifeProof case, a cleaning cloth and an adapter for the headphone socket which enables you to use your LifeProof with headphones and keep it waterproof and a spare headphone socket plug.

Room for Improvement…
Considering the virtually indestructible nature of  LifeProof™ cases, the only insurmountable obstacle may prove to be the $79.99 price which is significantly higher than similar competitors.  Then again, when you shell out between $300-$400 shekels for your iPhone you want to make sure that it’s protected.

The only other issue we had during the testing phase was an inability to actually use the protected iPhone as an underwater camera.  So we checked in with LifeProof™ who informed us that in underwater environments the touch screen will not respond due to the limitations of the electronics.  However, you do have the ability to use the touch screen above water to start and stop video recording or music playback.  If your iPhone is running iOS 5, it implements a feature that allows the Valume increase button to function as a shutter switch for the camera when underwater.

Bottom Line…
Imagine life without your iPhone®. Now, to avoid that nightmare, get yourself an LifeProof™ iPhone® case and let your phone live with the same reckless abandon you do all while providing uncompromised function in any condition.
