As athletes we are constantly seeking the perfect balance… that moment of harmony in which passion, energy, training and effort all meld seamlessly into performance. When your feet are uncomfortable, it’s difficult to perform at the top of your game. After all, your feet propel you forward, stabilize you, and put power behind your movements. At Gumption Gear we understand that selecting the perfect sock has as much to do with personal preferences as with the relative quality of premium socks. In our quest to highlight some of the best performing socks, Teko was kind enough to send several pairs their light cushion running socks for our Gumption Runners to test.
In an era in which much of the outdoor industry is moving towards more environmentally friendly and sustainable products, it can be difficult to find performance specific products that are not only earth-friendly, but reliably durable. Like a Zen master striking chords of harmony, Teko seems to have struck the perfect balance.
Founded in 2004, Teko was built around a single premise – design and produce premium performance socks while using the most environmentally-friendly materials, sources and methods of production and packaging in the industry.
Both our male and female Gumption Runners paired the light socks with minimalist running shoes and knocked out mile after mile of training. From on and off road distance runs to interval-speed training sessions the socks performed flawlessly. Contacts points were gently cushioned from constant foot ground impacts and the arch brace provided a more secure feel throughout long runs.
The socks performed well, just as Teko promised. The seamless socks are nicely constructed with a perfect blend of recycled polyester, nylon and spandex. All of Teko’s materials culminate into an all weather performance sock that provides moisture management, breathability and just the right amount of stretch.
As for the sock’s durability, they survived hours of runs and numerous wash cycles while keeping its original elasticity and color. As a side note, Teko says that the best way to make your socks last longer is to “Try to avoid walking around in just your socks, especially on a hard floor.” While we appreciate that advice, who doesn’t want wear a comfortable pair of socks around the house before running, after running and maybe even just casually?
